This is the second time that Instagram has come up with these awards. The categories of Instagrammer of the Year 2019 awards include Most Followed, Engaged Account of the Year, Storyteller of the year, Rising Star of the year, Fashion, Food and Entertainment accounts of the year. According to Instagram, people who have won these awards have shown their expertise at the art of visual storytelling throughout the year and have managed to build a strong community by using features like feed, Live, Stories and IGTV. While announcing the awards, Saket Jha Saurabh, Head, Entertainment Partnerships, Facebook India said, “It’s heartening to see young people come to Instagram every day to share memorable experiences and engage with the things they’re passionate about. The Instagrammer of the Year awards are a way for us to recognize creators who epitomize the spirit of our platform, where connections evolve into communities and passions meet products in an inimitable way. They have especially played an important role in helping us maintain authenticity and creating a space for diversity of expression on the platform.” Most Followed Account of 2019: Priyanka Chopra Jonas (@priyankachopra) The Bollywood actress has more than 39 million followers on the photo-sharing app. Storyteller of the Year (2019): Deepika Padukone (@deepikapadukone) The actress’s Instagram account has interesting content like Boomerangs from the Cannes Film Festival, slo-mo videos while catching a flight and an AMA with fans. Engaged Account of the Year 2019: Virat Kohli (@virat.kohli) This one was bagged by Indian Cricket Team Captain, Virat Kohli. His Instagram profile has content like sneak peeks into the locker room, gruelling training sessions, and off-field selfies. Rising Star Award for 2019: Sara Ali Khan (@saraalikhan95) Seems like Sara Ali Khan has not only made a grand debut in Bollywood but on Instagram too. Her fan base on the photo-sharing app grew as rapidly as her popularity during the year.
