Over that, the users will also get 2GB of data each day, totaling it to 20GB. Now a point worth noticing here is that the government owned operator does not have 4G services in the country. So, the users will get 20GB of data on the 2G or 3G network available on it. Well, many have told us that in tier 2 and tier 3 cities in India where BSNL works, the data network on BSNL 3G is very good. Some get constant speed of 4-7 MBPS. Which is much better than some of the 4G state networks where Airtel and Vodafone operate. Coming back to the calling plan, the unlimited calling feature is not limited to just the states where BSNL runs. Users of BSNL can now make unlimited calls to MTNL circles like Delhi and Mumbai too. As for the data usage, once the users run out of 2GB of data on a particular day the unlimited download usage stipulation still stays in effect, but the speed will be reduced to 80KBPS. Consumers can also avail unlimited video calling option on this plan. For which they would need to send an SMS to 123 with the following code: ‘STV COMBO78’.

The Rs 78 STV plan is competing directly with Airtel’s Rs 65 and 95 prepaid calling plans. Where users get similar benefits, however daily data limits are much lower than what BSNL is providing (at 200MB and 500MB). Overall, the Rs 78 STV prepaid calling plan by BSNL seems to be a concrete option to go for if you are in a BSNL run sector in India.
